oh this is fun so much procrastination so little time!
red: when and how did you first realize you loved writing?
ever since i was quite little i always loved other peoples writing and i was always quite good at it i guess, and then maybe when i was about 12 i wrote this super long and dramatic and stupid letter and then it turned into this super long and dramatic and stupid poem and it ALL WENT DOWNHILL FROM THERE
yellow: what is your favorite style?
oh god i don’t even have a style i just vomit onto the screen and hope it fits together um i prefer poetry but i can’t do rhyming. i guess i like it messy, i want people to read it like it’s their thoughts and they’re jumping around and forgetting things and remembering things and they’re in my brain but at the same time they don’t have any idea what is going on at all
that’s probably not really a stttyyyllleeee though
blue: what is your favorite genre/subject on which to write?
i like dreadfully depressing genres. my favourite thing to do is take things that have happened to me that may not be pretty or exciting or fun and then times them by 2438429 with pretty words and hyphens and post it on tumblr that’s my favourite subject to write about
indigo: what do you think is the greatest flaw in your writing?
pfft which one, honestly. i get lazy halfway through everything, even if it’s just a sentence. i spend a lot of time repeating myself and i kind of just have one or two themes or ideas or words that i mix around and recycle and hope no one notices. i run sentences on too long, i think i’m much better than i actually am.
violet: what is your favorite thing about your writing?
i guess that the things i write are always for a reason and i think that comes through? i mean, hopefully. like if i’m sad i write and therefore that poem is sad and therefore people reading it get a little bit sad and oh man making people feel what you want them to feel is just the absolute best thing in the whole entire world
silver: top three sources of inspiration
other words is definitely the biggest. like if i see a sentence i really like i’ll think over that sentence until i can build a couple more around it and then out of nowhere and usually at the most inconvenient times bam my brain has written a poem. things that have actually happened in my life, although i feel like i need to clarify right now that i am NOWHERE near as interesting as my writing makes me seem. songs, a lot of the time.
white: weirdest thing you’ve ever written
a glee fanfiction on phagocytes to help me and elle study for biology. a love letter that just read “i hate you” 83 times. hmm gosh this was fun THANK YOU FOR THE PROCRASTINATION ASSISTANCE
i was sitting on a bus and my phone was ringing. i ignored it.
i was going to visit a boy, a lovely boy, because it was a tuesday and i was cold and he had once told me, with a sad-and-sorry smile and a kiss on the cheek, that if i ever needed him i’d find a way.
so, i found a way.
there was a summer-lovely girl sitting in the seat behind me; her eyes were too shiny, too bright and i’m pretty sure her feet were bleeding.
“are you okay?” i asked her. she flipped me off and turned up her music.
my phone was still ringing, and two days previously i had cried in a hospital bed until i forgot my own name.
i answered the phone; my mother was on the other end. my mother told me that the bus was actually a train, and also that it wasn’t moving. “no matter how hard to try, baby, you’re not going anywhere,” my mother told me. my mother told me the boy ceased to exist in september of last year. my mother told me she was sorry.
still: i’ll find a way.
